Mission
88 wordsAISA Solutions exists to break down communication barriers for the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community through accessible, AI-powered technology. Our mission is to make sign language education available to everyone, regardless of their location, income, or background. Through our flagship product AISA School, we use computer vision and gamification to make learning sign language interactive, effective, and fun. We believe that communication is a basic human right, and that technology can bridge the gap between Deaf and hearing communities in a way that is scalable, affordable, and culturally authentic.
Why this business is necessary
473 wordsOver 466 million people worldwide live with disabling hearing loss, and the World Health Organization projects that by 2050, nearly 2.5 billion people will experience some degree of hearing loss. Yet only around 72 million people actively use sign language globally, and just 1.5 million are fluent in American Sign Language. This means hundreds of millions of people, along with their families, friends, coworkers, and communities, lack the tools to communicate effectively with the Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in their lives. I know this problem personally. Growing up, my cousin was hard of hearing, and all I wanted was to have real conversations with him. But I couldn't, because there was no accessible or affordable way for me to learn sign language. That experience stuck with me for years, and when I looked into what was available, I found the same frustration echoed by millions of others. The current landscape for sign language education is broken. Traditional options fall into two categories: passive video lessons that teach you to watch but not to sign, and expensive in-person tutoring that most people simply cannot afford or access. Neither provides the active practice and real-time feedback that language learning fundamentally requires. You cannot learn to sign by watching someone else sign, just like you cannot learn to play guitar by watching YouTube videos. You need to practice, and you need someone to tell you if you're doing it right. That is exactly why AISA Solutions is necessary. Our product, AISA School, is the first AI-powered sign language learning app that uses computer vision to recognize users' hand movements through their phone camera and provide real-time feedback on accuracy within seconds. The app is gamified with streaks, energy systems, and progress tracking to keep learners engaged, and structured into courses covering the ASL alphabet, numbers, and a growing library of words and phrases. It works on any smartphone, costs a fraction of traditional tutoring, and can be used anywhere at any time. Since launching in August 2025, we have reached over 120,000 downloads and 17,000 monthly active users with a customer acquisition cost of just $0.02, proving that the demand for accessible sign language education is real and significant. We have built partnerships with organizations like Google Cloud for Startups, NVIDIA Inception, Gallaudet University, and the Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center, and we are working with professional ASL interpreters to ensure our content is linguistically accurate and culturally authentic. Without AISA, the status quo continues. Families remain unable to communicate with their Deaf loved ones. Students lack accessible tools to learn ASL. Schools and organizations have no scalable way to provide sign language education. And the Deaf community continues to be underserved by technology that is built without their input or their needs in mind. AISA Solutions exists to change that, one sign at a time.
